Abstract
The NE5580, an all-purpose control IC providing control functions for zero-current-switching or zero-voltage-switching resonant or quasi-resonant power supplies, is described. It features frequency-modulated constant ON-time or constant OFF-time control with a 10 MHz voltage-controlled oscillator, 10 MHz error amplifier, dual 1 A peak totem-pole output drivers with no cross conduction current, and other functions. The NE5580 is designed using an application-specific IC (ASIC) approach with an advanced 15 V 5 GHz bipolar process.
