  • Abstract
    This article introduces an inexpensive retractable portable antenna with a switching mechanism. The antenna geometry is described and the principle of its operation is explained. Manufacturing issues relating to minimising production costs are addressed. Finally, the electrical characteristics of both single- and dual-band designs are presented.
