Abstract :
This paper presents two approaches for the design of lossy filters. The first approach combines non-uniform-Q resonators in a transversal network. The quality factor (Q) is adjusted in each path for optimizing electrical performances. The second approach combines resonators arranged in an in-line network but coupled by resistive cross couplings. The two approaches are depicted and applied to the design of microstrip lossy filters considering the same specifications and the same technologies. The electrical performances of the two lossy filters are finally compared.
