Abstract :
This paper describes the complete design of a wind micro-inverter for a Permanent Magnet Generator (PMG) based on a Savonious-Gorlov turbine. Two power electronic stages have been implemented. A Boost converter with Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) operation has been used, as the first stage, in order to extract energy from the turbine and deliver it to a 400 V DC bus. A single-phase inverter with PWM operation has been designed, as an output stage, in order to deliver to the grid all the power generated with Unity Power factor (PF). Both stages have been integrated using a Smart Power Module (FNB41560/B2) from Fairchild.
