Abstract :
The paper first describes the configurations and the basic concept of the operation of a fairly new resonant converter family including step-down, step-up, and step up and down circuits. The family has twelve variations. One of them can be operated as a current generator without any additional control circuit, provided that the input voltages and the switching frequency is constant. The converter is soft switched and the current pulses in their inductances have half-wave sinusoidal shape reducing the EMI problem. The basic relations and the operation of the current generator are discussed and experimental verification is presented.
