Abstract :
Introduces a fuzzy controller for the rectifier side of a high-voltage DC (HVDC) system. In particular, the rectifier side of a typical point-to-point system has been taken into consideration. In the rectifier, thyristors are used as control devices that can handle high voltages and power. The turning on and off, the triggering and the protection of these devices have lots of problems and are very sensitive. In particular, in changing the voltage and frequency, these problems appear by themselves. Therefore, the direct current of the rectifier output becomes unstable. Also, device dissipation, transmission losses and environmental effects cause these problems to increase. In this study, a fuzzy controller is designed to solve these problems. Finally, a comparative study has been performed with and without fuzzy control.
