Abstract
The human expert in agriculture determines suitable variety/hybrid for seeding in four steps. General expert system (ES) prototype which is built using the same method, is based on agent-oriented approach. The ES prototype´s knowledge base consists of several agents. Each agent is devoted to solve one part of the entire problem. Agents communicate using their language and update their internal beliefs, until solution is reached. All necessary information about particular problem is provided by the user. General prototype has been used for determination of optimal maize hybrid.
