Abstract :
Summary form only given. We demonstrated a simple scheme for femtosecond pulse compression to enhance the output of long-cavity, chirped-pulse oscillators with large mode area photonic crystal fibers (LMA PCFs) yielding a broadband, short-pulse light source with high repetition rate and high pulse energy. Because of the availability of LMA PCFs with up to 35 μm core diameter and single mode behavior, this solution offers a scalable extracavity femtosecond pulse compression scheme with hundreds of nJ pulse energy. Applications of such a source ranges from ultrafast spectroscopy to high repetition rate strong-field experiments and ultrafast plasmonics.
