Abstract
A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) regularly checks physical or environmental conditions and sends the collected data to a Base Station (BS) through network. In WSN, clustering is widely used method for protracting network lifetime as clustering is efficient method for reducing energy dissipation. Clustering joins together several sensor nodes to form cluster and performs election for selecting Cluster Head (CH) for all the clusters. In clustering method CH selection plays important role as major functions of CH is to keep information of affiliated sensor nodes and to communicate with Cluster Head of other clusters. For selection of Cluster Head various parameters can be considered such as lifetime of node, location of node, residual energy of a node, distance of node with respect to other affiliated nodes etc. Based on various parameters, innumerable schemes have been proposed earlier. This paper focuses on analytical categorization of various proposed Cluster Head selection schemes. In this paper algorithms were analyzed based on descriptor parameters they had considered and which WSN characteristics have been improved. At the end, the analytical comparison have presented in tabular format.
