Abstract :
The throughput of a slotted ALOHA radio channel is evaluated in a Nakagami fading and correlated shadowing environment with near-far effect. General and closed form expressions were derived for different design parameters. The fading parameter of interferers has a higher effect on the throughput than the desired user. With shadowing, the throughput obtained always exceeds the throughput obtained in ideal channels. The presence of correlation leads to a considerable degradation on the throughput. The near-far effect provides a higher area average throughput.
