Abstract
This paper attempts to investigate and evaluate the relations between the power transmission network losses and transmission line outages in the electric power systems. The effects of line outages on the transmission losses in electric power networks are presented in this paper and the impact of the various network representations on the results of the model is discussed. Test studies have been carried out using the linearized power flow model on the IEEE 24-Bus Reliability Test System to determine the impact of each contingency on the power system losses.
