Abstract :
Randomized modulation is of increasing interest in power electronics and also holds promise for reducing filtering requirements and reducing acoustic noise in motor drive applications. This paper deals with use of the randomized pulse width modulation (RPWM) principle in the boost structured rectifier. After establishing that the proper objects of study for randomized modulation of converters are the power spectra of signals, we use such a modulation scheme and present associated spectral formulas. It is also well known, that the switch-mode operation of the converter results in electromagnetic interference (EMI) which is produced due to large di/dt and dv/dt. In addition to all steps to minimize the generation of EMI (i.e. introduction of RPWM), improvement of power spectra is also considered.
