Abstract :
Rapidly increasing energy demand and developing photovoltaic cell technology bring importance to integrate Renewable Energy Sources (RES) (mostly Solar Generation) in Distribution Systems in near future. Considering power quality, sustainability, and reliability as the main goals, a well-designed control and communication system with reliable and expendable infrastructure is needed. In this paper, a Communication and Control system which has been developed to control and monitor PV Generation in a LV Distribution Network is presented. IEC61850 and MODBUS TCP/IP protocols are used to gather data from field to control center. The functional aspects, performance and topology of the control and communication system are discussed.
