Abstract :
As a kind of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), underwater glider is gradually utilized in the long-term and large-scale observation. This paper considers underwater glider as a microstructure turbulence observation platform in terms of its low noise in the motion. On May 25th 2014, glider completed measurements in Thousand Island Lake. It proves that glider serves as a suitable observation platform based on the analysis of flight paths and sensors data of glider. Furthermore, the computed shear spectrum match the empirical curve of Nasmyth. The dissipation measurements from the glider meet expectations and return data of sufficient quality suitable for studies.
