Abstract :
Due to the popularity of cloud computing and the increase of cloud-service requests, the demand for building better cloud infrastructure is huge. However, many services that need to be provided by a cloud infrastructure are not currently available. Efficient power consumption is an example. On the other hand, the usage of some cloud services is low. But their servers keep online and working, causing unnecessary power consumption. To avoid this, in this paper, a green power management scheme will be proposed to determine how many physical machines need to be online. Open Stack is used to build cloud environments and PDU is employed to record the power consumption information. We believe that the scheme can more effectively utilize hardware resources and reduce unnecessary power consumed.
