Abstract :
In this paper, we describe an approach to speedup of the microscopic road traffic simulation. This approach is based on an aggregation of the movement of each vehicle from several time steps into a single long movement. This aggregated vehicle movement (AVM) reduces the number of computations necessary for the movement of the vehicles. This, in turn, leads to the savings of the computation time. The AVM is utilizable for the traffic models commonly used in microscopic road traffic simulations. The performance of the AVM was thoroughly tested using five road traffic networks of various sizes and three microscopic traffic models.
