Abstract :
In cloud computing, service provider (SP) manages its resource in a fair way to ensure that cost for providing resource is low, energy consumption is minimized and resource utilization is maximized. Service user (SU) and SP in cloud have potential conflicting interests: SUs prefers reliable resources at minimum cost for job execution whereas SPs prefers efficient utilization of resources with a maximum profit and optimal energy consumption. Hence it is necessary to have a resource bargaining mechanism that assures job execution and satisfies needs of SUs and SPs. This paper proposes a cooperation based resource bargaining scheme using game theoretic approach to manage cost, energy consumption and resource utilization. Bargaining process is applied through different strategies based on the status of SU and SP. The scheme is simulated to evaluate parameters like job submission, bargaining steps, expected payoffs, and job execution. We observed that the proposed scheme performs better than the non-cooperative version of proposed scheme.
