Abstract :
The electric drive system is one of the most important parts of electric vehicles (EVs), whose function is the conversion between electric energy and mechanical energy. Switched reluctance motor (SRM) has the features of simple construction, high starting torque, wide speed range, high efficiency and high reliability which are appropriate for EVs drive system. Firstly, instantaneous torque control and average torque control strategies are compared. Then the better control strategy is selected to operate SRM for a wide speed range. Three different control methods are selected to operate the SRM at different speed ranges. Turn-on and turn-off angles are regulated on-line to optimize the system efficiency. Finally, experimental results verify the correctness of the proposed control methods.
