Abstract
Routing protocol is one of the most challenging problems in Ad Hoc networks, especially when multimedia information is introduced into the network. However, it is still a suspended problem to support real-time video communication in such network. In this paper, we propose an improved multi-path AODV protocol for real-time video communication, where link-independent backup multi-path mechanism is introduced to solve the single route problem. The paths are selected mainly based on the reliability and the available bandwidth, instead of the number of hops to the destination. The performances of the proposed routing protocol is evaluated and compared with other similar ones using NS2. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed routing protocol has better performance in end-to-end delay and packet delivery ratio.
