Abstract :
This paper addresses the concern of deafness in directional antennas for wireless ad-hoc networks. Deafness is caused when a node X continually attempts to communicate with node Y but is ineffective, because Y is currently tuned to some other antenna beam. In this paper, we first outline diverse factors which give to such deafness in directional antennas and its considerable impact on network performance. This paper focus the impact of deafness on directional medium access power using various routing protocol like tone-based mechanism, Tone DMAC, Synchronized Directional MAC (SYN-DMAC), dual-sensing directional MAC (DSDMAC) protocol, Receiver-Initiated Directional MAC (RI-DMAC). We have completed a comprehensive performance estimate of our schemes with diverse directional MAC protocols.
