Abstract :
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) has become cardinal towards the implementation of smart home, and they are proved to be a permitting technology for assisted living. WSNs are deemed appropriate for placement in home environments for diverse applications. The wireless sensors and actuators offer magnificent opening on energy savings, monitoring and enhancing the level of comfort to the inhabitant, towards the intelligent, smart home ambient. A critical issue in their adoption is the reliability of communication links over the different kinds of building material used in the urban environment. Some experiments are performed for problem formulation and solution, and these are based on the influences of distance between transmitter and receiver, obstacles, number of nodes, ISM bands interference, and various sampling rates. The outcome of this research is revealed by measured data of packet delivery rate, latency, and interference level and path loss. The reliability is correlated and interpreted with equivalent distance. Interference and others metrics in real home building field maneuver, and thus suggests a possible approach to wireless system designers towards coarse valuation of the desired positioning between wireless sensor nodes in the home applications.
