Abstract :
One cannot think of living in this world without Internet which one has to visit everyday for e-mail checking, booking air ticket, purchasing items from online stores etc. A client server environment can be compared to Internet access by users. Where the services are hosted on web server and users are considered as clients. Anyone who visits a web site wants a reasonably good response time. But due to increasing number of users and changing scenario in Internet environment the traffic situation changes and is going from bad to worst. In this paper an effort is made to study the end user feeling of web server access via emulated Internet like environment. Load tests are used to simulate virtual users accessing the web pages called static pages of known sizes to make a deterministic study of their response behavior. To collect various logs and study them to build up a model and predict the end-user response time. Focus is particularly given to the network packets that flow between the client and the server computer, so as to get an idea about end user response of web server access.
