Abstract :
Modern clinical studies suggest that biofeedback analysis is a highly effective solution for a variety of clinical symptoms ranging from involuntary urination to hypertension as well as assessing somatic awareness of the subject under test by making the virtually invisible really visible. In our study an investigation was carried out through clinical case based approach to analyze the biofeedback system and some psychosomatic applications. Prior investigations reveal that in most cases Psychosomatic patients prefer mastering case based skills to attaching the biomedical equipments with their body for treating disorders. Treatment of subject under clinical observation requires (1) assessing the physiology of the subject under test as a diagnostic strategy, (2) explaining the illness and healing strategies in detail to the subject that are in congruence with the subject´s perspective, (3) restructuring the subject´s illness beliefs, and (4) psycho physiological training accompanied by homework exercise in order to master the skills. This investigative study deals with the experimental approach towards the above mentioned processes which is explained and performed with the help of a single session with a subject who has been experiencing severe gastrointestinal distress and insomnia.
