  • Abstract
A dual inverter based solar PV system is presented in this paper. To reduce the switching loss, the main inverter is switched at low frequency (square wave mode) while the other inverter operates at a higher frequency to compensate for the harmonics generated by the low frequency inverter. A new maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm is proposed using only AC-side current and voltage signals to extract maximum power from the PV-panels. Note that DC-DC converter, as well as, DC-side sensors (current/voltage) are not used for the implementation of the MPPT. The usefulness of the proposed configuration is verified through simulation and experimental results.
