Abstract :
The power quality is largely affected by the injection of Power to the grid from wind turbine. After connecting wind turbine, the parameters related to the power quality problems are measured and assessed as per IEC Standard (IEC 61400-21). As per power quality concern, there are seven parameters, Voltage Unbalance, Harmonics, Inter-harmonics, Active power, Reactive power, Grid protection and reconnection time. In this paper how wind mill is responsible for above parameters after connecting to the grid is studied and STATCOM is introduced in system by connecting it at PCC for providing the better solution to overcome mentioned power quality issues. The control technique of both wind model and STATCOM connected to grid is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
