  • Abstract
    Paper narrates an application of STATCOM and SVC, for effectively regulating system voltage. Also this paper shows the effect of static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) and SVC on the voltage stability of power system. Main objective of this paper is to improve dynamic voltage control and thus increasing system load ability. With the increasing use of nonlinear loads in today´s word, it has been essential requirement to have compensator that can efficiently provide compensation with increasing or decreasing load demand. The STATCOM is used to regulate voltage in power system by generating or absorbing reactive power. A shunt connected static var generator or absorber whose output is adjusted to exchange capacitive or inductive current so as to maintain or control specific parameters of the electrical power system (typically bus voltage).This paper present modelling and simulation of STATCOM and SVC in MATLAB/Simulink for dynamic voltage control.
