Abstract :
In this study, we have chosen the merger galaxy NGC 3256 to study the physical properties in the radio and Infrared domain. The former was taken from Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) in the CO (J=1-0) observations to estimate the central rotation velocity and total mass of the galaxy NGC 3256 within the synthesis beam size of 7.12" × 4.9" (or 1.2 kpc × 8.3 kpc) image. We found that our current spatial resolution has a central velocity of 135 km/s and its total mass is 5 × 109 M within a radius of 1.2 kpc. We made a comparison with the only previous similar study on this galaxy which focuses on radius of 10" =1.7 kpc. We found good an agreement in terms of results for central rotation velocity and total mass. The Infrared data was taken from Spitzer archive at band 3.6 μm to study one of the physical features of galaxy formation, which is luminosity. The estimated luminosity of galaxy is an appropriate tool to understand the galaxy evolution and to estimate the stellar mass.
