Abstract :
Centi- and Millimeter level positioning performance is now expected from Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) technology. Various software suites exist that use GNSS measurement to perform highly precise positioning using single point and differential positioning techniques. These software are typically proprietary in nature, highly priced or not openly available. This paper reports the development of a PC based Positioning and Navigation Toolkit (PoiNT) software. The software is capable of estimating user position in both real-time and post-processing modes using GNSS measurements with cm-and mm-level precision. This paper discusses the software features and architecture in detail and presents initial results. It is demonstrated that the software is well capable of handling single and dual frequency data as well as GPS only and Multi-GNSS (GPS+GLONASS) measurements. It is proposed that the software will be kept partially open source for users to incorporate their own algorithms.
