Abstract :
This paper presents a design and implementation of a 1 kHz, 10 kV, positively pulsed trigger generator with an average risetime of 44 ns for use in a coaxial ferrimagnetic Nonlinear Transmission Line (NLTL) High Power Microwave (HPM) system. The pulse trigger generator is based on two stacked 4 kV current-controlled n-type thyristors in a low inductance package capable of driving inductive loads with risetimes less than 200 ns. However, by implementing a magnetic switch this relatively is slow risetime is sharpened to tens of nanoseconds. The stacked boards allow for voltage addition at the output while maintaining the fast riestime.
