Abstract :
A fast pulsed power generator using for killing pathogen in blood has been designed and tested. The set can generate a pulse with voltage of 20 kV, pulse width of ~9.0 ns on a matched load of ~5 Ω. It was a Blumlein structure and has a single GaAs photoconductive switch. The laser using for trigger the switch was 1.0 mJ and the maximum switch operate current is about 8.0 kA. A dummy solid load which is five ohm was used to verify the set. Different samples include Escherichia coli and erythrocyte has been tested at different electric field from 40 kV/cm to 80 kV/cm. The impedance of different sample has been calculated by comparing the output voltage at same bias voltage. The impact of the high electric field for killing pathogen has also been discussed briefly.
