Abstract
Optical fiber communication has advantages of high transmission rate, high channel capacity, long transmission distance, and strong anti-interference ability so that it has been widely used in control and automation communication systems. Meanwhile, various topological structures are required in the different applications of optical fiber communication system. According to these demands, we propose a communication system named Frame Forwarding (FF) for Profibus in this paper. This system supports three kinds of network topologies which are liner, star and redundant ring. Especially, it could recover from link failure in redundant ring topology rapidly. It can replace traditional electronic transmission medium such as cable and has been applied to the Profibus communication system successfully. This paper introduces the design method of the communication strategy, and analysis the strategy based on application scenarios. Through the experiment, the feasibility of the Frame Forwarding system for Profibus is proved.
