Abstract :
Distributed antenna systems (DAS) have been shown to be an efficient scheme to improve coverage and performance of wireless communications system. In this paper, we investigate the energy efficiency of a single-cell DAS. Given the coverage area and user distribution, Firstly we develop a general model for joint optimization of the number and location of the antenna ports (AP). Then the circular and the rectangular coverage area with uniform user distribution are specifically considered and the optimal location and number of AP are derived in theory. Computer simulation results are presented to confirm the theoretical analysis.
