Abstract :
A method to study the friction and wear behavior of cermet oil additives was developed using continuous wavelet transform (CWT) theory to analyze the vibration signals, since the vibration signals contain a wealth of information about the interface´s fault state and friction wear state. The vibration signals produced by cylinder-piston ring samples sampled from 6S50MC marine diesel engine under two different lubrication status were analyzed using CWT theory in order to establish the intrinsic relationship between the CWT time-frequency spectrum (TFS) and friction wear status. The results show that regular changes occur to the CWT TFS with the conduct of the friction process under two different lubrication status, and different distributions in CWT TFS corresponds to different friction and wear status. The CWT TFS of vibration signals can be used as the qualitative and semi-quantitative evaluation of cylinder-piston ring samples´ friction performance.
