Abstract
At the Eastern Roman period, Eastern Consul Studios has built the Studios Monastery in (A.D.) 454 year. Aya Ionnes Prodomos (John the Baptist) church is one part of that monastery. At today, it is the oldest religious building still standing in Istanbul. That important and old church was lived a lot of damage and repair. And it has no roof since 1908. But it is here planning a comprehensive renovation work. In that context, we did a detailed study with GPR in 11 different areas at the inside of the church. And totally 67 profiles GPR data were collected with 400MHz antenna. In this study, the church´s hidden mysteries and clues about the condition of the surviving structures were searched and examined. At the study, GPR results were correlated with current structure-static reports and art history studies. And overall the results are interpreted with together.
