Abstract :
Wi-Fi broadcasting system is to offer multimedia streaming of the same quality to users even with increasing numbers of users by using broadcasting packet, not Unicast packet. However, the broadcast packet has high packet loss rate because it has not retransmission Medium Access Control (MAC) to recover the packet loss. Therefore, to prevent service quality degradation, a system should apply lost packet recovery such as FEC technology. However, FEC occurs extra load, which is proportional to packet loss rate. Also, since location of packet loss is not predictable, quality of received video is variable depending on packet loss, which raises a need for unequal lost packet recovery approach by analyzing multimedia source so that it would improve the quality of the video. For this, analyzing the feature of transmission and reception of broadcast packet and of loss is required.
