Abstract :
In order to limit the energy loss of Inductive Pulsed Power Supplies (IPPS), low temperature environment is introduced, which not only significantly reduces the resistances of the inductors, but also slightly reduces the inductances. In order to evaluate the overall influences of the low temperature, 8 performance indices are proposed, i.e. charging time/efficiency T0/η, primary/secondary current multiplication ratio m1/m2, ratio of the maximum capacitive energy over the total inductive energy ηC, maximum voltage across the main switch Vsopm, muzzle velocity proportional term xv, total energy loss caused by the inductors´ internal resistances ER. Theoretical analyses, simulation studies and experimental validation methods are adopted to analyze this multi-parameter problem. The studies indicate that most of the indices (except m1, VSopm and ηC) can be improved after adopting low temperature for any inductor and system parameters. As for the inductors with certain parameters, these 3 indices m1, VSopm and ηC can also be improved.
