  • Abstract
In this paper we propose a beam reconfigurable antenna for THz applications, which is based on a switchable Graphene Frequency Selective Surface (G-FSS) that acts as a reflector for a primary radiator made of gold. The G-FSS structure consists of two layers of graphene cells arranged in a 5×5 matrix, the two planes being separated by a SiO2 layer; cells belonging to the same row are connected together, so that a common DC voltage can be applied to the entire row; this will control the graphene conductivity σ. The resonance frequency of the gold antenna located on the active G-FSS array is 1.6 THz. The results show that the shape of the radiation pattern can be changed by changing the voltage applied to each row of G-FSS array.
