Abstract :
Computer-based fault diagnosis systems are normally designed for system experts. This necessitates involvement of trained experts in the maintenance and repair process, despite the severity of the underlying fault. In many cases, particularly in the domain of home appliances, this leads to avoidable time and material costs - both for home users and manufacturer. In this paper a user-friendly diagnosis system is introduced. It is based on a mobile device, such as a smartphone, which will be extended by a diagnosis app. The mobile diagnosis solution is able to connect to automated systems and perform fault diagnosis. Furthermore, it presents different immediate proposals to solve the problem, without involving technical experts. The proposed solution provides a customized diagnosis framework to support systematic and facile generation of diagnosis mobile application. Furthermore, it is described how to employ existing app generator frameworks to supply the diagnosis app for multiple target platforms.
