Abstract :
This paper investigates the effect of loading a Swastika shaped Defected Ground Structure (DGS) on a Hemispherical DRA. The HDRA of εr=9.2, radius r=2.54 cm (1″) resonates at 1.816 GHz with a gain of 6 dBi. The bandwidth of operation (S11<−10 dB) of the HDRA is 10% at the resonant frequency. The optimized dimensions, calculated through rigorous parametric sweeps, of the swastika DGS are a=0.54, b=0.59 and c=0.08 cms, as shown in Fig. 1.
