Abstract
In this paper, a low power squirrel cage induction motor was modeled by using Finite Element Method (FEM) for the eccentricity cases. Different types of eccentricity (static, dynamic and mixed) at different degrees were studied with the simulation and test results. The effects of the eccentricity on the motor performance in terms of the air gap flux density, current and torque characteristics were investigated. The torque pulsation due to harmonics for these eccentric cases was researched. The mechanical effects such as vibration and noise were also examined for both concentric and eccentric conditions with the experimental results.
