Abstract
A standing-wave envelope detection technique is applied to detect breath and heart-beat rates. The breath and heart-beat periodic motions modulate the envelope of received RF standing-wave waveform in addition to the well-known Doppler phase modulation of the RF carrier. Therefore, a new vital signal radar is developed for detecting the breath and heart-beat rates and compared with the conventional Doppler radar.
