Abstract :
This paper presents a wearable indoor position tracking system for smart home applications with an emphasis on elderly care. The proposed tracking system incorporates an onboard K-band Doppler radar and a digital gyroscope, which are mounted on the helmet to capture the Doppler and moving directional information. All time tracking is realized on people who wear the helmet. Experiment was carried out and the trajectory was reconstructed based on the received signal. Measurement result was compared with the ground truth to show the high accuracy of the system. The position tracking has an average error of 7.1 cm. Besides, the tracking system has the potential for frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) operation, which makes 2D mapping possible by measuring the absolute distance between people and surrounding objects.
