  • Abstract
    In this paper, a compact meander line shaped patch implantable broadband antenna for Wireless Medical Telemetry Service (WMTS) (1430MHz) band is proposed. The antenna is composed of a meander line radiation patch and a ground plane. A shorting pin is directly connected from the radiating patch to the ground plane to reduce the size of the antenna. The antenna occupies a small size of 10 × 12 × 1.57mm3 (188.4mm3). The antenna is optimized to achieve the single-band designed antenna. The results indicate that the antenna can achieve 360MHz (23.53%) impedance bandwidth for the WMTS band. The proposed antenna (implanted in the Rat´s subcutaneous fat), with significant impedance bandwidth and its compactness, shows that the antenna is suitable for biotelemetry applications.
