Abstract :
This paper presents numerical simulation of terahertz imaging of heterogeneous material that mimics excised breast cancer tissue sections. The finite-element package ANSYS High Frequency Structural Simulator is used in this work. A model based on a pathology section is developed to obtain the image at 1 THz. The simulated image is compared with the experimental image at the same frequency. The results show the same trend as the experimental and pathology images. This simulation helps provide useful insight into interaction of terahertz waves with relatively thin sections of excised breast cancer tissues.
