Abstract :
A compact dongle antenna achieving the band of LTE 700 for fourth-generation (4G) technology is proposed and studied. A meandered monopole is using the spaces on the front side and back side of the substrate to compact the size. This antenna is printed on 0.8 mm FR4 substrate with an overall size of 60 × 12 mm2. The antenna consists of a compact antenna portion of 20 × 12 mm2 and a small system ground of 40 × 12 mm2. Using different widths of the monopole and proper controlling the coupling between the monopole and the system ground, a small monopole antenna for LTE 700 can be obtained. The strips of the monopole on the front and those on the back of the substrate are connected by two via-holes. From the measured results, the bandwidth of the antenna fits the required bandwidth of LTE 700. The antenna with a very compact size and good performances is suitable for USB dongle devices of LTE 700 system.
