Abstract
A 60 GHz 2×2 planar microstrip antenna array is proposed. An aperture-coupled feeding technique with inclined rectangular slots has been used to ensure equal coupling to each radiating patch. After optimization by a CST MWS simulation tool, a prototype antenna is fabricated and measured. The results show good agreement between simulations and measurements. The proposed antenna exhibits a maximum realized gain of 12.4 dB at 60 GHz, and 3 GHz 2:1 VSWR impedance bandwidth with about 90 % total efficiency. These characteristics make this antenna suitable for short-range high-speed wireless communications.
