Abstract :
A double-folded inverted-L antenna with directional radiation for indoor access points applications is presented. The antenna comprises a microstrip fed double-folded inverted-L radiator and a centrally slotted ground. The radiator is a printed inverted-L antenna whose arm is extended and folded. A directional radiation is obtained by mounting the radiator above the ground. A vertical slot is etched at the center of the ground to get a better impedance match over desired frequency band. The simple structure can be easily integrated with the RF circuits on PCB of the access point systems. The antenna is simulated, fabricated and measured. The result indicates a bandwidth with S11 better than -10dB from 2.38 to 3.6GHz and directional patterns, showing the presented antenna is a good candidate for wireless access points for WLAN, LTE and WiMAX at 2.4, 2.6 and 3.5GHz respectively.
