  • Abstract
    A reflectarray element with two linearly independent polarizations is developed at 11.7-12.3 GHz for Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) application. The element patch includes two sets of double rectangular open loops, each operating at one polarization. Considering a single layer substrate, more phase shift range was provided; however, it had a sharp curve which degraded the operation bandwidth. Therefore, we switched to a two layer structure to reach the required bandwidth. Simulation results show a phase shift range of 400 degrees for each polarization while the cross polarization level remains below -40 dB.
