Abstract
A high gain compressed footprint beam steering antenna array is proposed for 5 GHz body-centric wireless applications. A collinear array consisting of elements on fabric materials allow beam steering while maintaining high gain. Beam steering is achieved using RF switches. Simulations near a multilayered flat phantom show that the array can steer its beam to 45°, 0 and 315° in the azimuth plane with a peak gain of 12.3 dBi at 5 GHz.
