Abstract
In this paper a metasurface-based circularly polarized antenna is designed and simulated. The metasurface (MS) loaded with interdigital capacitors and titled slots are proposed to convert linearly polarized (LP) signal from the feeding monopole into circularly polarized (CP) signal radiated at broadside. The MS based antenna has a compact footprint of 0.31λ02 and a thickness of 0.07λ0. According to the full-wave simulation results, in spite of a small dimension, the antenna still achieves a gain of 5.7 dBi, a high front-to-back ratio, and an axial ratio <; 3 dB within a wide bandwidth.
